Established in 2006, Cactus Press is a Montreal-based independent poetry publisher. Over the past twenty years, we have published over 75 chapbooks along with our full-length editions. We typically releases 6-10 chapbooks a year as part of our Cactus Press Chapbook Series. All submissions can be sent via our Submittable page here. The Team

Publisher (2006-Current) - Devon Gallant 

Devon Gallant is the author of five books of poetry: The Day Afterthe flower dress and other linesHis Inner Season, S(tars) & M(agnets), and Bootleg Sake. His work has been previously published in VallumCarouselMisunderstandings MagazineBitterzoet Magazine and elsewhere. He co-founded and curates the Montreal-based literary series Accent. In 2006, he made a cameo appearance in Rudyard Fearon’s episode of Bravo’s documentary series Heart of a Poet

 Editor (2024-Current) - Willow Loveday Little

Willow Loveday Little's work has appeared in such places as The Dalhousie Review, yolk literary, Metatron, The Selkie's Very Much Alive: Stories of Resilience anthology, HA&L, The League of Canadian Poets chapbook series, Vallum, and On Spec. She is the author of the poetry collection (Vice) Viscera, out with Cactus Press.

Designer in Residence (2026-Current) - Aaron Chiffers

Aaron is an artist and designer from Cornwall, UK. With a graphic design career spanning twenty years and experience in projects ranging from typeface design and lettering to commercial visual identities, he now enjoys a focus on the more personal and emotive—creating illustrations and art that promotes a quiet affection for nature with tenderness and curiosity.

Alumni

Editor/Co-Publisher (2007-2012) - Jim Johnstone is the author of five collections of poetry, including The Chemical Life (Véhicule Press, 2017). He curates the Anstruther Books imprint at Palimpsest Press, where he published The Next Wave: An Anthology of 21st Century Canadian Poetry (2018).

Editor (2021-2024) - James Dunnigan is a writer, scholar and editor from Montreal currently completing a PhD in English Lit at the University of Toronto. He is the author of four chapbooks, including, most recently 2022’s Windchime Concerto (The Alfred Gustav Press) and Investigating the Blue Line Poets (Black Sails Publications). His creative and critical work appears in places like Event Magazine, CV2, HA&L, The Imagist, Black Sails, Maisonneuve Magazine and the Miramichi Reader.
